Why Jesus MUST stay with you today !

Luke 19:1-10

2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.  5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house." 

6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, "He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner." 8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold." 9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;  10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."  ( NKJV)

Lessons from the encounter of Zacchaeus with our Master, Jesus Christ

1. He was short but ran and did everything to see and encounter Jesus. This implies that we have NO reason not to accept and follow Jesus Christ. Lack is no excuse!

2. We have to go beyond been just a church goers, that is the crowd that never encountered Jesus Christ personally.

3.We have to be steadfast /dedicated with our walk with the master, run ahead with our services in the church example mid week services, other church programmes and stop been baby Christians.

4. Build up our personal spiritual life by constant study of the bible, praying, fasting, giving, thus we grow tall /mature spiritually. 2 Tim 2:15-16

15 Work hard so God can approve you. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. ( NLT)

5. Note that Zacchaeus started doing away and returning those things/riches he acquired, just because Jesus Christ said He was coming to His house. We should be ready to give up anything that will not allow us to walk and move with Jesus Christ, regardless of what it is!

Then after these, like Jesus Christ said I MUST come into your house! When we have done these, then our Lord Jesus Christ comes and dwells fully in us, manifesting the power of the Holy Spirit. Then, all we need becomes His need. Thus confirming Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (NKJV)

I pray for you, who have been reading/FOLLOWING this message, in the name that's above all names, that name Jesus Christ, today YOU will encounter the Almighty God, He will stay with you in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
