This prayer cannot fail !

It doesn’t matter what you have been called in the past!

It doesn’t matter how difficult things have been in the past!

It doesn’t matter how long you have been praying with no answer!

Jabez prayer pattern works!

1Chron4: 10 "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested".(KJV)
Let’s take a look at the prayer of Jabez;

  1. Jabez recognized his God. There are other idols / short cuts in Israel then but despite all Jabez was facing and going through, He sought the only true God. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
  2. He knew the kind of blessing he wanted. He didn't want to be just blessed but blessed in deed. He was specific! He had suffered and waited enough and it’s time for an overflow. Hence He prayed without a wavering heart/mind

  3. Jabez was aware that blessings come with trials, temptations and attacks of the enemies; physically and spiritually, hence he pleaded with God that His hand will be upon Him when He had blessed him, so that (1) The enemies will not succeed in their attacks against him (2) Of a great important,that he will not sin against God with the blessings the Lord is giving him.( This is a big and common problem among men today. The same blessings we cry for, when we have them, drift us away from God and into the hands of satan through the activities we do. E.g.  Clubbing, sexual immorality, bribing, pride, arrogance etc.)
  4.  He couldn't do /live without God
The most striking thing to note in Jabez’s prayer is that he was very sure that his prayer had been answered. He had great faith!

He didn’t say, “God if you answer me, or when you answer me” But a midst of the prayer he said “that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!” Meaning he was sure that God has answered him! No wonder the Lord granted him that which he requested.

I pray that the Almighty God grants us in sight and understanding on how to pray well in the mighty name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
